Over the past two weeks, school cancellations have been widespread due to an influenza outbreak in both Johnson County Schools and Paintsville Independent Schools.
According to the Kentucky Department for Public Health’s statewide flu activity report, the state’s current flu activity level, submitted weekly to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is defined as widespread. This means that outbreaks of the flu or influenza-like illness cases and recent lab confirmed diagnoses have spread across at least half of the regions in Kentucky.
